After spending the Easter break consuming way too much chocolate, what better way to burn off some of that pent up sugar energy that to race in the Zwift Crit City Race.

Trying to work on my cadence, and try to remain in the saddle, today I’m riding 95-100 RPM and leave the best till last.

I wasn’t riding too much in the red, and you can see from my colourful graph I wasn’t burning too many matches before the end of the race.

Watch at 2x speed for fun an enjoyment, or simple skip to the 20:33 Lap 8 (Last Lap) for all the excitement.

Oh look another race. A Zwift Crit race first thing in the morning 8:45am with no warm up, and a full week of crit races. Yeah, this is going to hurt.

My legs from the get go have nothing in them, and the main goal is just to not get dropped.

I hold on to the front pack with a bunch of high / low cadence work and just burning the candle at both ends.

Overall I get a 6th spot, not too bad, not too great.

Enjoy the entire ride a x2 speed, or just jump to 18:35 Lap 8 Final Lap

For 2021 Zwift have played us with the Aprils Fool Joke of giving us a Trike / Tricycle for the day. First ride I tried was a Zwift Race, but you could select it. The only way I could get this bike was the first ride when opening Zwift.

So what do you do on Zwift when they give you a bike that will last a day? Well you hit the Alp Du Zwift.

I usually get this ride done in about 52 mins, but I had tired legs from a race I just completed, and aimed for just under 1 hr.

Once completed, I was only 1 of 2 people to do it under that time, so the tricycle seems to make it that much harder.

Enjoy the full video from the Zwift 2021 April Fools Joke.

Hard race after burning the candle at both ends in the race before this one. A little bit longer, and I wasn’t riding as hard compared to the previous one.

It came down to a hard uphill sprint at the end, which I didn’t have enough to keep up. Happy with the 3rd spot, and well done to those in the race tonight.

Well done to the Australian Mogul Ski team for both races tonight, maybe next time 🙂

Nice to re-watch these in 2x speed or just simply skip to the 17:32 Sprint Finish

Riding the 9km of Gotham Grind Reverse, it helped having the Race elevation on my 2nd screen, as I wasn’t looking forward to the final kick on the finish line.

In this ride there were team of “Team Breakaway” riders, and true to their name, one of them made the split at 04:46 to join 2 other A grade riders. It was interesting to see if this person could hang on for the entire ride, and eventually burn out towards the end.

Looking back at this ride I didn’t realise how much I was in the Red, and I ended up having the highest avg & 1 watt short for the max in the B grade.

It came down to a weird mix at the end sprint as we B riders were mixed in with the A’s. Congrats to the winner, as that last part was a tough effort.

Tonight’s 15.2km Crit City Race(B) on the 29-03-2021

Wasn’t sure if I was going to ride this, as I had a race during my lunch break. But after an afternoon nap (I’m getting old) I gave it a crack.

Normally I would lose on the final sprint, but having just upgraded to Cleats (don’t ask) and a well timed power up I managed to take the top spot.

You can even see the moment I slap the keyboard for the power up.

What better way to spend a lunch break that hitting the world of Zwift for a 9km Zwift Race in the land of Innsbruckring.

I knew there that that “Leg Snapper” around the 5ish km mark, so that’s the make of break when it comes to this race.

After that I was watching the Zwifters Nearby section like a hawk, as my legs were zapped.

Do I make it to to the end? Watch to find out and ignore the thumbnail.

In this ride I complete the Alpe Du Zwift in 52:30 mins

One of those rides that was lost in translation, it was good to do something different when climbing up Alpe Du Zwift.

This time my trainer set to 50%, and mixed the ride had a great mix of intervals which I wasn’t able to complete.

Lots of fun, a highly recommended ride, just make sure to follow the race leader.

When they mix you in with every grade, you know its going to be a race with the A graders and that is never going to end well.

On the Volcano Hill, I ended up getting dropped, both mentally and physically. Nothing left, and just tried to hand with the next group.

Still nothing left in the legs for the final sprint, but I gave it a crack.

I have not done many, if any races that are 23km, as I usually stick the shorter ones. A couple mins in and my legs are cooked from the previous days efforts.

I hang in for as long as I can, and with the trainer set to 0% difficulty, you can see my constantly getting dropped on the up hills.

The finial sprint, again I made a silly early break, and was something I just couldn’t hang onto. The other riders successfully use their power ups, and in the end it came down to maths. Where an extra 1w/kg on the line is the difference in getting a spot on the podium.
